Who is this group for?

The target audience for this 6-month-long support group is adolescents aged 13 to 18 who are navigating mental health challenges. This inclusive group welcomes teens experiencing a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, and low self-esteem.

The program is tailored to empower them, foster self-confidence, reduce stigma, and provide practical tools for building healthy peer relationships and exploring future career paths.

What topics will be covered?

Discussions will include but will not be limited to the following themes:

A. Self-Discovery and Identity: Encourage teens to explore and celebrate their unique qualities, fostering self-awareness and building confidence.

B. Positive Affirmations and Self-Image: Focus on building positive self-talk and a healthy self-image to boost self-esteem.

C. Career Exploration: Guide teens in exploring different career paths, discussing interests, skills, and potential future opportunities.

D. Goal Setting and Achievement: Help teens set realistic short-term and long-term goals, celebrating their achievements along the way.

E. Effective Communication Skills: Develop communication skills that empower teens to express themselves confidently and assertively.

F. Peer Relationship Building: Explore healthy ways to build and maintain positive peer relationships, emphasizing communication, empathy, and conflict resolution.

G. Overcoming Stigma and Stereotypes: Address mental health stigma head-on, providing information to counter misconceptions and promote understanding.

H. Mindfulness and Stress Reduction: Introduce mindfulness practices to help teens manage stress, anxiety, and stay present in the moment.

I. Building a Supportive Network: Discuss the importance of seeking and maintaining a supportive network of friends, family, and mentors.

J. Resilience and Coping Strategies: Teach coping strategies for setbacks and challenges, emphasizing resilience as a key component of mental well-being.

K. Media Literacy & Social Media Wellness: Explore healthy online behaviours, promoting awareness of the impact of media on self-esteem and mental health.

L. Expressive Arts and Creativity: Incorporate creative activities like art, music, or writing as outlets for self-expression and emotional release.

What happens in a group session?

While the format can vary as per topic, here’s a flow that most sessions follow

Check In. Participants check-in with each others' feelings and answer the prompt given by the facilitator if any.

Conversation. Your facilitator will guide the group in a free-flowing conversation—with the goal of sharing openly, talking honestly, and deep emotional connection.

Check Out. Participants share what they're taking away from the session.

What am i going to get out of this?

Participants say that they feel heard, understood, more in control, and a feeling that you’ve got people rooting for you. By talking about your emotions and what's going on in your life, you'll realise that you're not alone and get ideas for how to improve your situation.

How long has soulup been around?

SoulUp was founded in Feb 2022 by Punita Mittal and Mahak Maheshwari - a team of IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay with more than 20 years of combined healthcare experience. SoulUp is redefining mental health through groups that are effective, but also fun, social, and challenging.

What's SoulUp's refund policy for Groups?

1. After you have registered for the group and you'd like to opt out:
- Full refund if you cancel 30 days before the group start date.
- 50% refund if you cancel 16-30 days before the group start date.
- No refund if you cancel 0-15 days before the group start date.

2. If SoulUp cancels a group, we will refund the entire signup fee.

3. If SoulUp reschedules a group by more than 2 weeks, we will inform you and give you an option to opt out and get a full refund.
