Goals of the group

- The group's primary goals include providing support, sharing coping strategies, and discussing resources to empower members in their journey towards overcoming porn addiction.

- Through the 6-month period, participants will collaboratively explore personalised strategies, celebrate milestones, and gain a deeper understanding of the underlying factors contributing to their addiction.

- By fostering a sense of community, the group will try to empower individuals with the tools and resilience needed to break free from the cycle of addiction and achieve lasting recovery.

What topics will be covered?

Discussions will include but will not be limited to the following themes:

1. Understanding the Addiction
- Exploring the science behind addiction and how it affects the brain.
- Sharing personal stories of when participants first recognized their behavior as an addiction.
- Sharing any feelings of shame and guilt without judgment.

2. Building Healthy Habits
- Sharing experiences with healthier alternatives to cope with stress and boredom.
- Exploring strategies for creating a daily routine that supports recovery.
- Discussing methods to cultivate self-compassion and forgiveness.

3. Relationships and Communication
- Understanding how addiction can affect personal relationships and intimacy.
- Sharing communication strategies with partners and loved ones.
- Exploring rebuilding trust and fostering healthy connections.

4. Identifying Triggers and Cues
- Identifying personal triggers that lead to compulsive behavior.
- Developing awareness of environmental cues that may contribute to relapse.
- Discussing effective strategies to navigate and cope with triggers.

5. Coping Mechanisms and Strategies:
- Exploring positive habits and routines to replace the time spent on porn.
- Creating a Personalised Toolkit: Compiling a set of personalised coping strategies and resources

6. Digital Health and Boundaries:
- Internet Filtering Tools: Sharing tools for limiting access to explicit content online.
- Device Management: Listing down strategies for creating a digital environment that supports recovery.
- Establishing Digital Boundaries: Discussion on setting healthy boundaries regarding internet use and screen time.

7. Goal Setting
- Setting realistic short-term and long-term goals for recovery.
- Discussing potential challenges and developing proactive strategies.
- Exploring the concept of life beyond addiction and envisioning a healthier future.

Meet your Facilitator

Paras

Paras is co-founder and Director at The Alternative Story – a mental health startup based out of Bengaluru.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling and is soon to complete a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.

In a career spanning over 12 years – he has worked in hospitals, helplines, corporate mental health organizations and academic institutions. He has helped set up India’s largest counselling helpline run by trained mental health professionals and has helped set up and train government helplines to address Violence Against Women in states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.

He has worked in association with government and non-government organizations at the grassroots in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu to enhance community mental health.

He lives with mental illness and chronic illness and is currently engaged in awareness building and research on the same.

Check In. Participants check-in with each others' feelings and answer the prompt given by the facilitator if any.

Conversation. Your facilitator will guide the group in a free-flowing conversation—with the goal of sharing openly, talking honestly, and deep emotional connection.

Check Out. Participants share what they're taking away from the session.

What's SoulUp's refund policy for Groups?

1. After you have registered for the group and you'd like to opt out:
- Full refund if you cancel 30 days before the group start date.
- 50% refund if you cancel 16-30 days before the group start date.
- No refund if you cancel 0-15 days before the group start date.

2. If SoulUp cancels a group, we will refund the entire signup fee.

3. If SoulUp reschedules a group by more than 2 weeks, we will inform you and give you an option to opt out and get a full refund.
