I am a single parent. Who can understand it better with an experience of a love marriage, a difficult divorce with a domestic violence conviction, a subsequent illicit affair, and a wonderful and open relationship with a daughter. Also, on professional ground, internal team management, and handling government clients. Yes, I have experienced all of the above and have now found ways to have a balance within myself and also with people I deal with.
I was 22 when I married my college senior, and 23 when I had a premature child with delicate health. Work stress, parenting a child, running a family, ego conflicts, and other factors that started as minor altercations eventually escalated to physical and emotional abuse. To dissolve the marriage and obtain custody of my kid, I had to file a lawsuit under the Domestic Violence Act and fight a one-sided divorce.
During this vulnerable time in my life, another connection grew; originally a fantastic support, but subsequently revealed itself to be poisonous, manipulative, and controlling. Even though it lasted for 9–10 years, I eventually stopped my unlawful relationship with a married guy since there is no future for it.
Paralley, I was handling my career in a male-dominated field of sales in the water sector while also managing a very hurt and stressed daughter. Now, I have shifted my career to software and I have moved to UK and have my daughter with me studying here in UK.
Like they say, be thankful for wrong relationships. They teach you, change you, strengthen you and prepare you for the right one – In my case I am currently having a wonderful relationship with myself!
