As a homemaker belonging to a joint-family, there have been many obstacles I've had to overcome. When my daughter was 14, she was struggling with her mental health, and due to stigma and lack of mental health awareness,  as a parent, I had no resources or guidance that could help me support my daughter.
At the same time, our family was going through a difficult divorce procedure,  and as the oldest daughter-in-law, it was difficult to see the strained family environment during those years.
Now, more than 10 years later, I know much more about mental health and advocate for mental health awareness so that I can support my daughter, who is now a therapist, and others going through the same. Our family has healed from the emotional scars of the divorce through each other's support and have been able to celebrate new beginnings. At the same time, we've been able to normalize the process and support other families going through the same.
